THE BAND

The term „Marblewood“ stands for a type of exotic wood with a distinctive  texture. Blendingly veined, yet chiseled and dense – these properties describe the music of the swiss three-piece equally well. Edgy beats meet groaning bass lines, bold ad hoc compositions and unusual songwriting unite and define the original sound of the group. Breaking the boundaries between genres and illuminating new soundscapes, the music of Marblewood is thus hard to classify. Even though the reminiscence of the 1970ies can not be overheard, neither can the pumping electro beats lying underneath. Dark and thoughtful lyrics hover independently somewhere above and create an apocalyptical athmosphere, while the instrumental machinery just keeps rattling and pumping like an old steamboat.

Marblewood Album I

2014

Whenever experienced musicians, rooted in rock music, embark on an endeavour to experimenting with sounds and collide with multiple styles improvising on a suspiciously high level, odds are about the same as observing the explosion of a dieing star: it does happen from time to time, but usually noone is present at the right time and place to keep record of it. Luckily this won't happen to the music of Marblewood. Like a warm golden light those ever-changing musical supernovae evolving in jams reach out on their recipients immediately, hooking them on their incredible freshness and playfulness. Blues-fused guitar solos meet heavy desert rock riffs, jazzy beats, electronic grooves and floydian psychedelia. Long instrumental passages feature additional organ and dilruba.
